Garden, Courtyard & Hardscape Design

Landscaping is about more than just making a yard beautiful. Landscape design is about transforming your yard into a beautiful retreat and then seamlessly keeping it looking that way.

Inviting Nooks......

Whether the garden is large or small, it can be difficult to create private areas where neighbors cannot see in. Landscape design makes it possible to break up even a large yard into secluded, yet inviting areas.

The Great British Gardener (GBG) can design landscape that creates an outdoor living room framed by trees or shrubs to block out the noise of the neighborhood and foster a feeling of being out in nature. The design will take into consideration how you plan to use the space and will result in the perfect environment and backdrop for your needs.  A well designed garden will add color and texture to your outdoor living space as well as to your home in general.

Maintenance

The Great British Gardener provides regular, seamless maintenance for your yard. This is key to a beautiful garden. We keep an eye on bugs that might attack your plants or lawn, apply fertilizer as and when needed, prune damaged limbs at the right time and trim hedges, ensure you are irrigating your garden appropriately, and generally help you ensure the health of your lawn and plants.

Lighting

GBG works with homeowners to transform the exterior of their gardens and homes into a ‘showplace after dark.’  We will work with you to design, install, and maintain the look that you have envisioned for your home. Keeping your property well-lit is key for safety and overall aesthetics.

Most outdoor landscape lighting is unobtrusive, designed to discretely illuminate and keep the landscape at the center of attention. We will place lighting fixtures so as to highlight the fronds in a tall palm or accentuate a textural wall.

Irrigation

Irrigation is the application of controlled amounts of water to plants at needed intervals. One of the most obvious benefits of an irrigation system is protecting your yard, plants and trees from inefficient watering and drought. Particularly in our warmer climate or during periods of drought or little rainfall, irrigation is a cost-efficient way to ensure the sustainability and diversity of your landscaping.

Installing an irrigation system may seem like a costly endeavor, but sprinkler or drip configurations--a well-designed system--ensure that your grass and plants are getting the proper amount of water needed to thrive. In addition, irrigation prevents disease and weeds, preserves a healthy soil, and provides gardening flexibility.

Whether you need a complete system design or sprinkler heads, controllers, pumps, or control valves installed, GBG can install and maintain.

Hardscape

Hardscape elements are an important part of your landscape.  Hardscape consists of the human-made features such as paths, walls, and patios. Achieving a balance between the plants and hardscaping will take your yard to the next level.  The most important aspect of designing hardscaping is finding the balance between hard and soft elements in your yard. Look at your entire space when choosing what features to incorporate.  Leave whatever greenery you can. Choose materials that complement your yard and the style of your home.

If you have a yard with a difficult area to maintain or use, hardscaping can help you reclaim that space.

Installing a deck or patio turns wasted space into useful space. Hardscaping such as patio built out of paving stones is much more functional than plain grass.

We also build retaining walls to create tiered flower beds. It provides a place for you to plant bushes and flowers to add color to your area. Tiered flower beds can also increase the curb appeal of your home.

Your yard is part of your living space like your home is. Adding hardscaping features can help to create a seamless transition from inside to outside.

Pathways can also be an inviting way for visitors to approach your home. The right design will compliment your home and entryway.   Adding some paved stone walkways around a garden will make it feel like part of the yard. A winding path through a landscaped area can also make it feel more connected to your home.

Hardscaping can not only make your yard more functional, but more attractive as well.  GBG will help with everything from design to installation and maintenance.
